Street signs at the intersection of Lomita Dri...

ArtsIntersect  reflects my passion for arts education and the arts ability to intersect with almost every area of life.  The arts touch people  emotionally, ignite critical thinking, and inspire conversation.  They move, motivate, and reflect the society we live in – the best and the worst of it.  There is art  in everything from a play, to a photograph, to the fluidity of a baseball as it is hurtled through space.

My personal journey has led me to the path of arts integration – using arts for learning.  When students are truly engaged in class, behavioral issues drop, content retention improves, and deeper, more meaning connections are made.  Any teacher in any subject can use arts as a portal to deeper understanding of content.

I am also searching for ways in which the arts and technology can have a symbiotic relationship, particularly in the classroom setting.  Instead of fighting it, I say embrace it and make it work.

Here you will find posts about education, arts-integration, and arts and technology.
